According to Fujian Daily, on November 29, a shipment of 240 kilograms of frozen Indonesian "Golden Pillow" durians arrived at Fuzhou Changle International Airport. After efficient customs clearance, the durians were transported to the Fengda Cold Storage in the Yuanhong Functional Zone of the Fuzhou New Area, which is part of the Chinese park of the China-Indonesia "Two Countries, Twin Parks" initiative. This marks the successful arrival of the first shipment of frozen durians from Indonesia in China. It is reported that the Yuanhong Functional Zone in Fuzhou New Area has already gathered several durian trading and processing enterprises, such as Hesheng Food and Jintai Zhongxin, forming a relatively complete industrial chain ecosystem.

Taking the successful arrival of this shipment of frozen Indonesian durians as an opportunity, the local area will leverage regular durian imports to further strengthen the industrial chain’s agglomeration capacity through high-quality and stable raw material supply. This will attract more upstream and downstream enterprises to establish operations locally and deepen production capacity cooperation between China and Indonesia in key areas such as tropical agriculture.
In recent years, domestic demand for high-quality tropical fruits has continued to grow, with durian imports rising year after year, making durians a significant category among imported fruits. As a major global durian producer, Indonesia accounts for about one-third of the world’s total durian production, with an output of 1.83 million metric tons in 2023 and close to 2 million metric tons in 2024.
