Vietnam's coffee exports in the first two months of 2022 were estimated at 293000 tons, up 3.4 percent from the same period last year, while exports were valued at US $674 million, up 35.6 percent from the same period last year, according to the Import and Export Bureau of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, citing data from the General Administration of Customs.

It is worth noting that in February 2022, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee was estimated at US $2337 / ton, an increase of 32.6% over February 2021. In the first two months of 2022, the average export price of Vietnamese coffee was estimated at US $2299 / ton, an increase of 31.1% over the same period in 2021.

In the domestic market, the price of domestic coffee in February 2022 is still significantly higher than that at the end of January 2022.

Specifically, on 28 February 2022, the price of coffee on the domestic market rose by 1200 dong / kg compared with 28 January 2022, reaching a peak of 41000 dong / kg (Dele province) and a minimum of 40400 dong / kg (Linton province). The price of Calais and Dornong provinces is 40900 dong / kg.

It is predicted that global coffee prices will tend to fall in the short term. When tensions between Russia and Ukraine "escalated", speculators withdrew money to seek a "safe haven" because of risk concerns. In the long run, coffee prices will pick up when tensions between Russia and Ukraine "cool".

The appreciation of the real has led Brazilian coffee growers to reduce sales, even though the country and some major Robusta coffee-producing countries entered the new crop harvest at the end of March 2022, making a significant contribution to the current supply shortages.
