China’s Customs Authority recently released the interpretation of the "Measures for the Administration of Import and Export Food Safety of the People's Republic of China" (Decree 249), which includes significant changes in the labeling of imported aquatic products. Starting from January 1, 2022, if imported aquatic products do not directly enter China’s domestic consumer market (including raw materials for processing and re-export), pallets, containers and shipping cabins can be used as independent packaging units to mark the product’s scientific name, production date, etc. in Chinese Label Information. Transport ships, fishing ships and processing ships refer to fishing ships with freezing functions.
 
After this regulation takes effect, overseas manufacturers can save a lot of label production and affixing costs when packaging, and release policy dividends to import and export enterprises.
