1. Philippine Banana Exports to China Down 31% in 2021
Philippine banana exports in 2021 dropped 31% to US $1.123 billion, the lowest in nearly five years. China is the second largest export market for Philippine bananas. In 2021, the Philippines will export 910,000 tons of bananas to China, a y/y decrease of 21.6%.
2. China-Ecuador Start FTA Negotiation
China's Ministry of Commerce said that China and Ecuador have officially started negotiations on a free trade agreement. If the negotiation of the free trade agreement between the two sides is successful, China's import tariff on Ecuadorian white shrimp will be reduced from the current 5% to 0%. The signing of the FTA means shrimp traders can save US $50 million in taxes and fees annually. In 2021, China will import 379,000 tons of Ecuadorian shrimp, and 62% of the imported shrimp products will come from Ecuador.
3. Russian Railways shipped 12,600 tons of fish to China in January
Russian Railways delivered 12,600 tons of fish to China in January. In January, 16,100 tons of fish products were shipped by railway in January, 39,000 tons of which were shipped in containers, and 19,500 tons in refrigerated carriages.
4. China-UAE Implements Mutual Recognition of AEO System
From February 14, China and the United Arab Emirates officially implement the "Approved Economic Operator" (AEO) system for mutual recognition of each other's customs, providing customs clearance convenience for goods imported from each other's AEO enterprises.
