According to information released by the Russian Agricultural Bank, Russia enters the top 10 countries and regions with the highest per capita consumption of eggs in the world in 2021, with an annual per capita consumption of 17 kg, surpassing the US and Canada. Hong Kong SAR maintains the first place with 27 kg per capita, while Mainland China ranks second with this figure of 21 kg.
 
According to statistics, in 2021, Hong Kong residents will consume the most eggs at 27 kg; Mainland China at 21 kg; Japan, Mexico and the Netherlands, all at 20 kg; and Malaysia and Luxembourg, at 18 kg. The statistics are in kilograms and the average weight of an egg is about 55 grams.
 
According to the Poultry Branch of the China Animal Husbandry Association, China's egg production from hens in 2021 was about 18,463,600 tons, down 2.6% year-on-year. The export volume was 68,300 tons, 0.45 million tons less than in 2020, down 6.18% year-on-year; the export value was US$ 118,642,000, up 13.30% year-on-year.
 
In 2021, China exported 58,800 tons of fresh eggs to Hong Kong, China, accounting for 86% of the country's total fresh egg exports, and the export value was $103.6893 million.
 
Andrei Dalnov, an expert from the Russian Agricultural Bank, said that the prospects for the Russian market are linked to the development of the hospitality industry and the Russian population's pursuit of a healthier and more nutritious diet.
 
Currently, the Russian population consumes an average of 308 eggs per year, which is 23 eggs higher than 12 years ago. in 2021, Russia will produce about 44.9 billion eggs, which is approximately equal to the level of consumption. The Leningrad, Yaroslavl, Belgorod, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Oblasts account for a relatively high share of production on their farms, at around 18%.
